Rankin Inlet, known as Kangiqliniq in Inuktitut, is an Inuit hamlet located on the west coast of Hudson Bay in Nunavut, Canada. It’s the regional center for the Kivalliq Region.
History: Rankin Inlet has a rich history dating back to the Thule people around 1200 CE. It later became a hub for whaling, trading, and mining activities.
Mining: The town grew around the North Rankin Nickel Mine, which operated from 1957 to 1962. This mine was notable for employing Inuit miners.

Located about 10 km northwest of Rankin Inlet, this park offers beautiful landscapes, including lakes and tundra valleys. It’s also home to archaeological sites with ancient sod houses and hunting blinds. It’s a perfect spot for hiking and exploring the natural and historical beauty of the region.
